Danville, KY, 05/16/2024 - The Boyle County Board of Education is proud to announce the
approval of a 3% salary increase for all district staff. This decision reflects the Board's commitment
to maintaining Boyle County as one of the highest-paid districts in the state, ensuring that we
attract and retain the best educators and support staff for our students.

Despite the legislative passage of a 4% increase in the Support Education Excellence in Kentucky
(SEEK) funding, the additional funds only supported a 1.5% pay raise. Boyle County Schools have
managed to achieve this significant raise through prudent financial management and being
exceptional stewards of taxpayer dollars. Through careful financial management and strategic
planning, the district has maintained a healthy fund balance, allowing the prioritization and
investment in staff compensation. Since 2018, Boyle County has achieved a total of 16% in pay
increases for its staff.

"We are dedicated to recognizing and rewarding the hard work and dedication of our staff," said
Mark Wade, Superintendent of Boyle County Schools. "Our educators and support personnel are
the backbone of our district. By offering competitive salaries and an outstanding culture, we aim
to ensure that Boyle County remains a top destination for talented educators."
In addition to the staff salary increase, the Board also approved an extensive extra service salary
schedule. The enhanced schedule supports a wide range of extracurricular programs, further
enriching the educational experiences within our district.
The Boyle County Board of Education remains steadfast in its mission to deliver high-quality
education and support for all students. By investing in our staff and expanding extracurricular
opportunities, we are building a brighter future for our district and community.

The effects of the pandemic on K–12 student learning has been significant nationwide.  Teachers and administrators in Boyle County quickly recognized that waiting to implement interventions was not an option.  As a result, Boyle County created the Academic Recovery Grant (ARG). Introduced prior to the 2021-22 school year, the grant was used to target gaps and get students back on track in Reading and Math. Schools used the resources provided in the grant for additional support staff, extended school opportunities and summer programming. Funding was provided with monies allocated by congress through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER). While there was great flexibility in how these funds could be used, Boyle County chose to utilize the funds where the biggest impact would be felt: The students.   For the current school year, the ARG was authorized by the school board to continue prescribed interventions to maximize achievement for all students.

“We are not letting off the gas,”  says Superintendent Mike LaFavers, “even as we are seeing improvements, we will continue to push forward for every child as is our tradition.”
