Taking the Exam

Scores

Hello 2021-22 AP Students and Parents,

Students enrolled in an AP class this school year will have the opportunity to take an AP Exam in May to qualify for college credit.  As AP students and parents, there are several things you need to know and several changes that Collegeboard has implemented.

First, you need to have a College Board Account!  For many of you, you already have this. Your same College Board account log in is used for PSAT, SAT and AP, so if you have ever created an account for one of these, you have one! Please do not create a 2nd account.  If you do, it could prevent all of your SAT scores or AP scores from going to the correct college.  If you do not know your Collegeboard login and password-use the forgot username or password buttons.  We do not have access to that information at the school level.  You may also contact Collegeboard at 888-225-5427.  If this is your first time using Collegeboard-click sign up under the username area.

You can create an account or verify that you have an account at www.collegeboard.org.  Here are some helpful hints for setting up your account or verifying the information if you already have an account:

  • Make sure it is the student’s legal name that is on the account!  I know this sounds obvious, but I know quite a few parents created accounts in the past to view PSAT scores.  You don’t want your parent’s name on your AP or SAT scores when you apply to college.

  • The students must have their own e-mail address associated with their account.  If you forget your log in, College Board will send you an e-mail to reset it, so you have to be able to get the e-mail.  This shouldn’t be the parent’s e-mail address.  If you already have an account, please check this and change it if necessary.

  • If you have problems with your account, please contact College Board at 866-315-6068.  High Schools aren’t linked to them at all, so we can’t help with issues and they won’t talk to the counselor on your behalf.  Account help can be found here:  https://pages.collegeboard.org/account-help/i-forgot-my-username-how-do-i-get-it

  • Please put your College Board log in somewhere in your phone – in the notes or a photo of the username and password.   You will use this multiples times in high school, so you’ll want to remember it.

AP Exam Fees – Each exam is $50.  If you pass the exam with a 3+, you are reimbursed the fee in August.  Free/reduced lunch students may take the exam free but you must see Ms. Stigall to sign up (there is no reimbursement).  EXAM FEES WILL BE COLLECTED OCT.18th-22nd We must adhere to these new deadlines for ordering.  Exam fees will be collected by the finance person in the front office.  Checks should be made payable to BCHS and please note the exams you are paying for on check with student name.   Checks/cash only please.

Late and Cancellation Fees – AP Exams for year-long courses or those beginning in the fall are ordered in October, with a change deadline of Nov. 15.  AP Exams for classes that start in Spring will be ordered in February with a change deadline of March 13.  If anyone decides to order an exam after those dates, there is a $40 fee in addition to the regular exam fee.  Should a student not take the exam for any reason after the deadlines, parents/students will not be reimbursed

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding AP.

Thank you,

Dana Stigall (dana.stigall@boyle.kyschools.us)
