Taking the Exam

Scores

AP Commitment Form due 10/20-this serves as registration for the exam since there is no fee this year!

Hello 2022-23 AP Students and Parents,

Students enrolled in an AP class this school year will have the opportunity to take an AP Exam in May to qualify for   college credit.  As AP students and parents, there are several things you need to know and several changes that Collegeboard has implemented.

First, you need to have a College Board Account!  For many of you, you already have this. Your same College Board account login is used for PSAT, SAT and AP, so if you have ever created an account for one of these, you have one! Please do not create a 2nd account.  If you do, it could prevent all of your SAT scores or AP scores from going to the correct college.  If you do not know your Collegeboard login and password-use the forgot username or password buttons.  We do not have access to that information at the school level.  You may also contact Collegeboard at 888-225-5427.  If this is your first time using Collegeboard-click sign up under the username area.

You can create an account or verify that you have an account at www.collegeboard.org.  Here are some helpful hints for setting up your account or verifying the information if you already have an account:

  • Make sure it is the student’s legal name that is on the account!  I know this sounds obvious, but I know quite a few parents created accounts in the past to view PSAT scores.  You don’t want your parent’s name on your AP or SAT scores when you apply to college.

  • The students must have their own e-mail address associated with their account.  If you forget your log in, College Board will send you an e-mail to reset it, so you have to be able to get the e-mail.  This shouldn’t be the parent’s e-mail address.  If you already have an account, please check this and change it if necessary.

  • If you have problems with your account, please contact College Board at 866-315-6068.  High Schools aren’t linked to them at all, so we can’t help with issues and they won’t talk to the counselor on your behalf.  Account help can be found here:  https://pages.collegeboard.org/account-help/i-forgot-my-username-how-do-i-get-it

  • Please put your College Board log in somewhere in your phone – in the notes or a photo of the username and password.   You will use this multiple times in high school, so you’ll want to remember it.

AP Exam Fees –  The Boyle County Board of Education and the state of Kentucky will be paying for AP exam fees for the 22-23 school year.  Each student is required to complete an AP Commitment form so that correct exams may be ordered for each student.  The deadline for completing this form is Fall-10/21/22 and Spring-03/01/2023.

Late and Cancellation Fees – AP Exams for year-long courses or those beginning in the fall are ordered in October, with a change deadline of Nov. 15th.  AP Exams for classes that start in Spring will be ordered in February with a change deadline of March 13th.  If anyone decides to order an exam after those dates, there is a $40 fee.  Should a student not take the exam for any reason after the deadlines, parents/students will be required to pay the $40 AP cancellation fee.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding AP.

Thank you,

Caitlin Daniels (caitlin.daniels@boyle.kyschools.us)
