It is with great joy that I welcome you and your child(ren) to Woodlawn Elementary School. Woodlawn is filled with an incredibly talented staff that works collaboratively to help educate your child. Like all of our Boyle County Schools, we offer a rigorous and challenging curriculum. Our goal is to maintain high educational standards, while always providing support to ensure our students' success. It is a big task to be entrusted with the responsibility of nurturing and preparing students to become lifelong learners beyond our four walls. Our yearly Big 5 always outlines school specific goals that help us grow this caliber of student. One of those continued goals is to offer engaging, personalized learning experiences that challenge students with problem based learning approaches that make learning more relevant. The result is a student that is equipped to be a critical thinker, an innovative problem solver, and an effective communicator.
Our staff is also equally committed to the partnership we have with our families. In order to reach our instructional goals, we know that our families must play a role. We are able to provide the best in education in part due to that support. We highly encourage our families to take an active role in their Woodlawn student. Little things like reading with your child, helping them log their books read, monitoring the completion of homework, and just asking them about their day all help support learning. Another key piece in partnership is making sure that every COLT, every day happens by getting students to school on time each day. Through our active PTO, we also offer many opportunities for families to play a vital role in our school culture.
If you were to walk through our halls during a typical school day you would see well behaved, cooperative, and happy students that strive to give their best. You would hear lots of "shout outs" on the morning announcements celebrating student accomplishments. You would be able to observe a staff that cares about the academic, social, emotional, and physical growth of the students that walk these halls. We are truly thankful for each child!
As we move through the school year, we invite you to play an active role. If you have ideas or concerns you would like to share, we'd love to hear them. You are always welcome to email or call. Please follow updates on our students and events through our Woodlawn Elementary Facebook account.
Thank you for the privilege of sharing your children with us!
Every Colt... Every Day!
