Hi! I am Mrs. Emerson and I will be your child’s Kindergarten teacher this year. I am a graduate of Boyle County High School and the University of Kentucky where I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education and a Teacher Leader Master of Arts Degree in Special Education from Campbellsville University. When I am not teaching, I enjoy volunteering at my church, walking my dog, reading, and spending time with my family and friends. Sherry Hensley is our Instructional Assistant in this class. She loves working with children (has five of her own) and is a big help in our classroom!
Kindergarten is a very important year in a child’s academic career because it is one of their first impressions of school and how they feel about learning. I teach using a lot of hands-on activities to keep children interested and actively engaged. Your child will learn their letters, numbers, shapes, colors, how to read, write, add, subtract and much more! We will also have a lot of exciting events this year including field trips, plays, and special days like Pajama Day.
If you have any questions or concerns the very best way to reach me is by email and I will get back to you as soon as I can. My classroom phone no longer notifies me of voicemails so I recommend email first. I look forward to working with you and your child! We are going to have a great year!
