Hello, everyone! My name is Melissa Ellis and I will be your child’s reading/math intervention teacher. I am looking forward to having a great year
I thought you might want to know a little bit about me. First of all, I graduated from Boyle County High School. I am excited to be teaching in the same school that I attended as a child. I am also a graduate of the University of Kentucky where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I then attended Eastern Kentucky University where I received my Master’s degree and Rank I in Educational Leadership.
I began my teaching career at Junction City Elementary. I taught kindergarten and first grade for eleven years and served as a Reading First Literacy Coach. Seven years ago, I returned to the classroom to teach kindergarten at Woodlawn Elementary School. This past year, I started a new postion as a reading and math interventionist. It has been 21 years since I walked into a classroom for the first time. Since then, I have learned so much about myself and how students learn. I absolutely love my job!
