The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) has included four Boyle County High School seniors on its list of approximately 15,000 National Merit Scholarship Finalists. Malik Allahham, Jackson King, Chance Naylor and Hannah Sharp were selecetd by the program for their exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
According to NMSC, 1.6 million students across 22,000 high schools entered the scholarship competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test in 2016. 16,000 participants, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, were selected as Semifinalists in September.
Scholarship Finalists were chosen based on their academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment and honors and awards received.
