Children need healthy meals to actively learn. The Boyle County Schools Food Services Department serves over 415,000 healthy meals annually through its full-service breakfast and lunch programs. Each of the district’s five schools has a fully equipped kitchen that prepares nutritious meals on site. The Food Services Department is self-supporting, participating in the federally funded National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs administered by the USDA.

Junction City Elementary and Perryville Elementary schools offer breakfasts and lunches to all students at no cost through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the National School Lunch Program. The CEP is a provision that eliminates the need for schools in low-income areas to collect applications for free and reduced-price meals. School participation in CEP requires all parents and guardians with children attending JCES and PES to complete a Household and Income Form (HIF).
MyPaymentPlus allows students to purchase meals and snacks with a PIN number. Parents may view their child’s food services account and add additional funds online when needed. Meals are prepared following standards set forth by the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, that encourages children to eat more fruits, vegetables and whole grains while limiting sodium and unhealthy fats. A balanced breakfast is proven to help kids pay better attention in class and improve memory. Every day, Boyle County Schools serve nutritional breakfasts that meet USDA guidelines, including fruits, whole grains and low fat or fat-free milk. Breakfast is included in the free or reduced meals program.
Boyle County Schools follow USDA Smart Snack nutritional guidelines for healthy food and beverages sold to children during the school day. The program encourages students to make healthier snack choices that give them the nutrition they need to grow and learn.
During the months of June and July, the Boyle County Summer Food Service Program provides free breakfasts and lunches to all children ages 18 years old and under. Meals are served Monday through Friday, at various locations throughout Boyle County. Adults may purchase breakfast for $1.75 and lunch for $3.35.
*Your children may qualify for free or reduced priced meals. If your child qualifies for free or reduced lunch, he or she may also qualify for low-cost health insurance or reduced instructional, textbook, parking, testing and college application fees. By allowing Nutrition Services to share your status information, you may be able to take advantage of additional programs.
