STLPs Advance to State

Scratch Winners

Student Technology Leadership Programs (STLP) from BCHS, BCMS, JCES, PES and WES will advance to State Competition! Students competed in showcase events and demonstration interviews at regional competition in Somerset on December 5th.

Showcase Projects offer an opportunity for STLP students to observe a need in their school or community and utilize technology to develop and implement a solution.  The project is based on the vision of the students and, with the guidance of the STLP Coordinator/Teacher, involves project based and inquiry based learning. Students in the district completed projects such as; Girl Power: Girls In Coding, Inside STLP Webcast, Gigabytes for Granny, BCMS News, and Bulldogs Be Nice.

Demonstration Interviews are individual events that involve the student demonstrating knowledge in a particular content.   These interviews included Social Media, Live Reporting, and Scratch Computer Coding. Boyle County Middle School student, Mia Stivers, won the Social Media Live Reporting category. Woodlawn Elementary students, Samuel Wade and Logan Marsee, won the Scratch Computer Coding category. All three of these students and the showcase teams will represent Boyle County Schools at State STLP competition at Rupp Arena in April 2017.

Congrats to all our STLP Teams!
